It’s like all my clients knew November was senior pup month! Last week I got to meet Abby and Frank, an 11- and 12-year-old Cairn Terrier and Westie pair. We barely squeezed in the session before the rain started, and I couldn’t have asked for better subjects because nothing fazed them! They were totally chill and happy to show me all their favorite hangouts despite the ominous clouds.
One of my favorite things about this session was that it’s the first time I’ve ever gotten to witness and capture a real homecoming! Sometimes during a session I’ll have the owner step out for a second and our model gets super excited when they come back after all of five minutes, but this was the real thing — dad coming home from work at the end of the day.
In my humble opinion, this “home from work” greeting is probably one of THE best things about having a dog. No matter what kind of day you had (or even what kind of day they had) or what you did or didn’t do before you left the house that morning, they are always there by the door to remind you of their unconditional love and selfless devotion. There is nothing else like it in the world…

Frank’s most important task of each day is to survey his backyard and make sure everything is under control:
